Petit Verdot
Grown in our front field and the main backdrop to all your photo’s of our place ~ Petit Verdot is one of the main varietals grown in Bordeaux, France and is highly recommended for Virginia’s terroir. The grapes are typically harvested in mid to late October, then fermented and aged 24 months in French oak barrels. The results are a fruit-forward and earthy wine with hints of blueberries and fennel. A comforting wine that pairs nicely with Cassoulet, beef stews, or any earthy & herbal dish.
Fun fact: If there is only one varietal used in a vintage, the wine can actually be named after that varietal!
